Artists & Founders

Londubh Studio is a decorative arts and surface design studio founded in Los Angeles in 2011 by artists Lisa Donohoe and Brynn Gelbard. United by a passion for storytelling and fearless material experimentation, they created a new kind of studio practice where fine art, design, and architectural finishes intersect. With backgrounds in both art and design, Lisa and Brynn specialize in crafting custom, hand-applied surfaces that bring depth, texture, and emotional resonance to residential, commercial, hospitality, and experiential spaces, both interior and exterior.

From the beginning, they have approached every surface as an opportunity for transformation. Their work spans custom murals, wallcoverings, textiles, decorative
plaster finishes, artisan glazes, gilding, hand-painted floors, hand-adorned furniture,
bespoke doors, and large-scale, site-specific installations. Each surface is either hand-applied on site, crafted in the studio for installation, or digitally produced as large-format prints designed for architectural applications including walls, ceilings, and built-in elements.

Londubh Studio collaborates with interior designers, architects, art consultants,
developers, production designers, and private clients across the U.S. and
internationally. Their multidisciplinary practice is unified by a meticulous commitment to craftsmanship and the belief that beauty should be both seen and felt. Every project is guided by collaboration, curiosity, and imagination from concept through installation.

About Us

Our Story

At Londubh Studio, every surface is a canvas. Walls, ceilings, floors, furniture, façades, and architectural details all become opportunities for transformation. There is a saying in our studio, ‘We will take on any surface that will stay still long enough for us to do our 'thing’, because for us, every surface holds the potential to become art.

That boundless creativity has defined our journey from the very beginning. Our background has always been rooted in the decorative arts. Over the years, Londubh has evolved into a multidisciplinary surface design studio offering bespoke murals, hand-crafted wallcoverings, Venetian plaster finishes, artisan glazes, metallic leafing, sculptural and textured surfaces, textiles, printed installations, and hand-adorned furniture, bathtubs, and bespoke doors. Our luxury wallcovering and textile
collections extend this ethos into repeatable designs that carry the same energy,
craftsmanship, and attention to detail as our site-specific works.

Licensed in California as a C-33 Painting and Decorating Contractor, Londubh Studio
pairs artistry with technical expertise to deliver projects at every scale, from private
residences to commercial spaces, boutique hotels, hospitality venues, and large-scale
experiential installations. We collaborate closely with clients in Los Angeles, across the U.S., and internationally to ensure each project is executed with both imagination and precision.

Rooted in art history, mythology, and modern maximalism, Londubh’s story is one of
transformation. We create architectural finishes and custom surfaces that move beyond decoration, becoming vessels for narrative, memory, and meaning. Each project reflects our belief that beauty should not only be seen but also felt.

Design Philosophy

At Londubh Studio, design begins with the conviction that surfaces are alive. Every
mural, finish, wallcovering, and surface treatment is approached as a living language, one that speaks in rhythm, color, and symbol.

Our philosophy is grounded in material exploration, fine craftsmanship, and a deep love of ornamentation. Whether it is a one-of-a-kind mural for a private residence, a bold wallcovering for a hospitality space, or a hand-adorned piece of furniture, every work is created with intention, bridging timeless techniques with a contemporary edge. Science and tradition meet in our process. Research shows that repetition, symmetry, and richly patterned environments reduce cognitive strain and enhance pleasure, a phenomenon known as processing fluency. These rhythmic visuals allow the brain to rest, inviting clarity and calm. Color psychology further demonstrates how hues influence mood, regulate the nervous system, and anchor emotional experience.

At Londubh, this knowledge becomes art. We design surfaces that resonate not only
with the eye, but with the body, the mind, and the heart. Our wallcoverings, murals,
installations, and bespoke decorative finishes bring texture, emotion, and soul into the built environment, creating spaces that inspire presence, connection, and wonder.
This is design that remembers, felt in the body, grounded in story, and crafted to endure.

History

We believe in honoring the rich traditions of art history while pushing forward into new territories. Our appreciation for classical techniques and historical movements informs our contemporary practice and helps us create work with depth and meaning.
